Don't hate me...I'm moving.

Alright dear friends, I have to tell you... I'm moving...to My Space. Don't hate me.  There are only 3 of you on this one for me, probably because you guys started me on it... But, I have more on MySpace AND they let you post as many pics as you want for free, have a song or video playing when people are on your site, it just seems like it has more features--or I understand them better. I know me, I won't post on both. I will still remain subscribed to yours and joyfully read your entries, but my entries will now be at www.myspace.com/heidnem  Hope you will subscribe to those. Love and miss you all!

OH MY GOSH!! OH MY GOSH!! OH MY GOSH!!!

So I get this email from Orbitz today touting cheap tickets to NYC, and I think hmmm...next time I go to NYC I want it to be because I'm auditioning for Hairspray. So I check out the Hairspray on Broadway website (www.hairsprayonbroadway.com)  They are holding Open Call auditions for Tracy Turnblad (the part i was born to play) in Chicago on January 25th.  AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!  I'm going. BOoked the flight, booked the room, I'm going. I'm auditioning for a Broadway show! Holy crap! We are asked to sing Good Morning Baltimore--no problem been working on it since I bought the CD and songbook.  Here's the description of Tracy in case you aren't familiar:

[TRACY TURNBLAD] Female, Caucasian, height of 5'3" or shorter, late teens - 20s to play high school age. Must be heavyset. Outgoing, unstoppable, goodhearted with a vibrant, lovable, spirited personality. Loves to dance. Becomes a teen heroine, integrating the local TV teen dance show in 1962 Baltimore and gaining the affection of Link Larkin, the show's heartthrob. Needs a fantastic pop belt singing voice. STARRING ROLE

Hello? is this not me?!!! AaAAaAAAA!!  In spite of the last minute-ness of this I feel prepared, I have 1-2 voice lessons booked with my teacher before I leave. I know the song they are asking for.  Have another friend working with me on what will probabaly be my 60 seconds in the room.  I just saw the show 2 weeks ago....woo hoo!

I fly in the 24th, audition the 25th, and my parents come pick me up on the 26th (if I don't have a callback) to take me home to hang out there until I fly back the 28th....yes whirlwind trip.  Anyway, so my super supportive parents ask if they can come watch me audition!   HA!   Yes, I'd like to bring my parents to a job interview.  hee hee hee...

They are funny.

Woo hoo I'm posting again...finally.

Just came back from a whirlwind trip to NYC. Drove up with a friend, stayed with a friend, hung out with friends-was tons of fun and I'm never doing it again.  Well, I'm never driving it again it's just not worth it and now I know. By the time you pay tolls both ways (about 50-ish bucks) and gas-2 1/2 tanks and try to park in Queens hopefully for free-NOT WORTH IT!  We went up to be supportive friends for the MFA showcase...good excuse. I saw Hairspray! Loved it! Light fluffy fun musical that was written for me to play the lead in. ;)  Bring on the dance lessons. I may even go see the tour again in Richmond just to check out the choreography again.

More about it from me later.

Rent

Back to 75 degrees here in tropical Virginia. This is nuts. I had to shave my legs for a skirt today for pete's sake!!!

Just came back from home in Danville for Turkey day. Spent some quality time on the couch, quality time with the fam including Grandma and my new nephew who is now 3 months old and the cutest little guy EVER! Sorry Darby ;) but Caleb is blood. You are the cutest little boy EVER who's not related to me.  Also continued the Nemecz tradition of going to the Christmas Tree farm and cutting down our tree on Friday.  It was freaking freezing!! below 32, but no snow.   I'm obsessed with the weather in this entry...wierd. Saturday went shooting with my brother  (357 Pistol), getting in touch with my inner redneck...we shot beer bottles off of a pile of concrete. yee hoo! Well, he shot them, I hit one. I shot like 12 times, but could not aim to save my life, too much kick in that thing...lots of laughs from my brother watching me try.

Saw Rent Saturday night in small town Danville, Illinois where the high school kids in front of us freaked out whenever the lesbians kissed. THAT was lovely.  RE: Rent, I liked it. Thought it was great. Great singing, great translation to film-the script lends itself to that, great performances.  It's not quite so rock opera, not as much conversation sung.  They speak much of it as lines...which can be amusing if you have the thing memorized as I do.  heh heh.

While I was home I had the best conversation with my 82 year old Grandma Nemecz about how she ended up working in the Pentagon during WWII. How she met my Grandpa at a USO club in D.C.  She was 18 when she applied for a government job and was assigned to Washington D.C. So the small town girl who had never been on a train, rode one all night long from Springfield, IL to Chicago to D.C. there were so many awesome colorful details.  I urged her to write it all down for me. I wish I had had a video camera for the whole conversation. It was awesome!

Working on a film, casting, wardrobe, makeup, acting and other various jobs as needed. For a friend who's using it to apply to USC. Having a blast. The picture is from the shoot with my kindred spirited friend Courtney.
